Meeting of Polish potato industry elite, closed by a banquet.

The conference focuses on perspectives of incorporating environmental and economic potential of Warmia and Masuria region into the increase of potato production.

It will also discuss production directions, quality and possible distribution channels on local and global markets, based on Program for Polish Potato 2020-2025 of  the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, as well as  support perspectives from  Polish Development Found and ROP.

The evening will be closed by a banquet with modern Polish cuisine prepared by Tomasz Jakubiak, accompanied by jazz quartet of Olsztyn Philharmonic Orchestra. The event will be held on a picturesque platform of Conference Center-Hotel Przystań Olsztyn at Ukiel lake.

Tomasz Bieńkowski

Tomasz Bieńkowski is a co-founder and President of Polish Potato Federation, Owner and CEO of CN NIDZICA – one of the main producers of seed potatoes in Poland. Specialist in plant breeding and quality seed production, with Phd in agricultural sciences.

Nina Dobrzyńska

Director of Department of Plant Breeding and Plant Protection. Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland. Nina is a high level representative of the Polish government administration with almost 20 years work experience.
Since 2004, she has held high positions in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Devolepment and in the Ministry of the Environment. Specialist in the field of EU law, environmental protection, plant breeding and plant protection. Currently responsible for restructuring the Polish potato industry and implementing government program for polish potato sector.

Bartosz Urbaniak

Head of Agro BNP Paribas Banking for Central and Eastern Europe and Africa. The graduate of banking at the Faculty of Finance and Statistics of SGH Warsaw School of Economics. He completed a postgraduate program for foreigners at…
the Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in Japan. Participant and graduate of many trainings and educational programs, including Harvard Business School, IESE, Ashridge College. At the beginning of his professional career (in the years 1995-2001) he was associated with the Warsaw Commodity Exchange, performing many functions, from a student trainee at the time of establishing WGT to the Vice President of the Board in 1999-2001.
In the years 2001-2002 he worked at the Agricultural Market Agency where he was the deputy director of the Market Intervention Bureau and was the Director of Plant Products. He has been permanently associated with Bank BGŻ since 2002, initially as deputy director of the Separated Loans Department (in 2002-2003). Then he became the director of the Institutional Banking Development Department (2003-2005). From September 2005, he held various roles in the field of agribusiness, including the director of the Agribusiness Financing Department and the managing director for Agribusiness and SMEs. From March 2015 to February 2018, a member of the Management Board of Bank BGŻ BNP Paribas.

Proffesor Jadwiga Śliwka

Jadwiga Śliwka is a biology graduate at the Jagiellonian University, however, she obtained further degrees and academic title in the field of agricultural sciences,…
working on potato at the Plant Breeding and Acclimatization Institute – National Research Institute in Młochów, as well as in Germany, the Netherlands and Great Britain. Since 2009 she has been managing the Potato Pathogen Laboratory at the IHAR-PIB. In her researches she focuses on potato genetics and in particular on the
genetics of resistance to late blight and other diseases. The Author of over 40 scientific papers dedicated to the potato and its pathogens. She received the Prime Minister’s Award for her doctoral dissertation, and in 2014 she was nominated in the “Science” category in the “Poles with Verve” plebiscite. Since 2017 President of the European Association for Potato Research (EAPR).

Marek Borowski

Since 2002, President of the Board of the Federation of Polish Food Banks, which play an important role in the area of ​​rational food management for social assistance in Poland.
Works together with the Ministry of Family Labor and Social Policy and the Ministry of Agriculture, Environmental Protection, Finance and many other institutions in the country and abroad, to limit wasting food, help the needy and entrepreneurship. For his many years of activities and social initiatives in 2015, he received the Local-Government 25th Anniversary Civil Award from the President of the Republic of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski. In 2000, he initiated the creation of the Food Bank in Olsztyn and from the beginning he served as its President. Activity in the areas of education, social and professional activation as well as in the area of ​​non-food waste has become a leaven for activities in the wider field, which he realizes with passion and with the conviction that each of us has an impact on the world in which he lives.

Tomasz Jakubiak

Cook and culinary journalist. The host of the programs “Jakubiak w sezonie”, “Jakubiak Lokalnie”, “Jakubiak Rodzinnie” on the Kuchnia+ television.
Currently, he runs a popular program “Sztuka Mięsa”, which can be watched on the Food Network channel. Tomasz is the author of culinary books: “Z tradycją na Ty” , “Jakubiak lokalnie”, “Z miłości do lokalności” and “Ugotuj mi tato”. In each of them, readers can find easy and simple recipes with fully use of what culinary tradition offers us.
Tomasz loves to travel and draws culinary inspirations from around the world, but in a special way promotes regional Polish cuisine. In his programs he visits producers of healthy, Polish food and obtained products from these producers he quickly turns into delicious dishes.
In Food Network (TVN) Tomasz Jakubiak runs the “Sztuka Mięsa” program. Each episode is dominated by a different type of meat, from which Tomasz prepares two original dishes. He also goes outside the kitchen to talk to local growers and discover the secret of their products.

Berta Redondo

Berta works for Europatat since January 2018 and takes care of the internal and external communications, media relations and visual identity of Europatat.
Together with the Managing Director, she also supports the association’s public affairs and policy objectives in relation to dossiers such as agriculture, sustainability, promotion and research and innovation.
Berta holds a Journalism Degree from the University of Valladolid in Spain, where she is originally from, and has a strong work experience in radio and European communications related with agricultural topics.

Krzysztof Gąsior

The graduate of the Gdańsk University of Technology (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering). He has been associated with the Warmian-Masurian Special Economic Zone since 1999.
Responsible for contacts with entrepreneurs and attracting investors, their services related to the issuing of Permits to conduct business in the SEZ territory and Decision on support. His team prepared all (several) applications for changing the boundaries of the W-M SEZ territory. Privately – father of four children, avid mushroom picker and angler.

Claire Dawai

Chief Executive Officer of the Sub-Sahara Africa Council of Entrepreneurs since June 2019.The organization is an apex body that supports governments, NGO’s, the Chamber of commerce organizations in the region and any trade facilitating organization. The organization supports 47 countries in Sub- Sahara Africa.
She has consulted as a Business and Investment Adviser at the East African Chamber of commerce Industry and Agriculture, to facilitate trade and Agriculture in the East African region. She now works with over 2 million farmer groups in the region to disrupt the Agriculture value chain in an effort to
enhance food security.
Claire holds a law Degree and has been an active practitioner for a little over ten years. She also has an M.B.A (Strategic Management) and PHD in project management. Claire has a bias and is secretly passionate about all things Agriculture. Her desire is to bring about Disruptive change in the region, a change that will see Africa fully utilize its God given resources and forge formidable partnerships to feed the world.

Tigran Richter

Born in former East Germany he graduated from university in Moscow in the Russian Federation (1981-1986) specializing in agricultural water construction and management.
He started his professional career as a researcher and teacher at Rostock University in Germany (1986-1990) and completed a postgraduate program with a grant from the British Council at City University London in Great Britain (1991-1992). In 1993 he joined the German potato breeding company NORIKA and from that time till today he has been responsible for worldwide marketing of NORIKA potato varieties. In 2005 he became director of NOREX, the export company of NORIKA and 10 years later in 2015 appointed as director of NORIKA. Since 2017 chairman of the Seed Commission of EUROPATAT.
